2 When Shelton was ready to perform again, he and Lambert continued to work together. A VOICE FROM HOME A few weeks after Shelton moved to Nashville at 17 years old, he received a letter in the mail from his dad. It was five pages long and contained things his dad hadn’t had a chance to tell him about the real world. Shelton set it aside unread and didn’t think about it again until after his dad died.
